With the long holiday weekend over, let's hope you spend the week recovering and getting ready for many other great events in the area.  So we ask “What’s Rockin’ Portland?” ~Iris

July 9 - Aug. 27 (Tuesdays 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.): Family-friendly Tunes on Tuesday in Newberg outside Chehalem Cultural Center.  There’s a different band each week.  Food and wine vendors. Bring chairs. Free.

July 10 - Aug. 28, 2019 (Wednesdays): Music on Main next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall (on SW Main Street from Broadway to Park Ave.)  Free.

Now- Sept. 1: Movies and Music in the Park feature live performances by local musicians, free popcorn, and movies at dusk. Alcohol is OK, no smoking. Free.

     Friday July 12- Colonel Summers Park, SE 17th Ave and Taylor St.  Music from Tara Velarde—Diva folk.  Movie is “Black Panther” (2018) PG-13—English with Spanish subtitles.

     Saturday, July 13- Pendleton Park, SW 55th Drive and Iowa Street. Music from Hula Halau ‘Ohana Holo’oko’a Band—Traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music . Movie is “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” (2018) PG  

     Sunday, July 14- Warner Pacific University, 2219 SE 68th Ave.  Music from Quadraphonnes—Jazzy funk from all-female saxophone quartet.

July 10: Best of Portland Block Party is an all-ages event with food carts, a bar, and local vendors on NW Quimby Street. Free admission.

July 12: Queen w. Adam Lambert at the Tacoma Dome.

July 12 – 13: Harefest for age 21+ in Canby.  Hear 17 tribute bands, camping available.

July 12 – 14: Bead Faire at the Oregon Convention Center.   Exotic beads from around the world.

July 12 – 14: Portland Rose Cup Races at Portland International Raceway. Friday features practice and qualifying races, with final races Sunday afternoon.

July 12 – 14:  Cowabunga! Gourmet food events include a Friday dinner, a Saturday afternoon workshop & tasting, a Saturday evening beer & bites barn bash, and a Sunday brunch at Rossi Farms. All events are age 21+ except brunch.

July 12 – 14: Oregon Country Fair west of Eugene in Veneta.  Music, magicians, jesters, hippies, art, and food and craft vendors. No pets.

July 13: Portland Timbers vs. Colorado Rapids, 8pm. Providence Park.

July 13: The Big Float in the Willamette River!   Bring a lifejacket and an inner tube and float downstream to a beach party with a music barge, food carts, and beer garden.

July 13: Mississippi Street Fair with 200 local vendors, craft booths, 5 stages, kids’ corner, food carts, beer/wine garden on N. Mississippi Ave (Fremont to Skidmore). Free.

July 13: Portland Picnic in Westmoreland Park.  100 wines to taste, beer, food vendors, live music, and family activities. Bring a blanket or chair. Free. No pets.

July 13 (12 to 6 p.m.): Bastille Day Festival at Jamison Square Park. Free.  French food, wine, music, street performers, costume contest, waiters’ race, and a marketplace.

July 13, (3 to 6 p.m.): Picklefest tickets include live music, your first beer, and a baseball game (Portland Pickles vs. Kelowna Falcons) at Walker Stadium in Lents Park.

July 13: The First City Celebration in Oregon City, has an art fair, food carts, vendors, live music, and a kids’ zone.  Free.

9 a.m. - Oregon Trail Game 5K and kids’ run is a scenic fun run through Oregon City, and you make decisions along the way related to the Oregon Trail.

July 13: Traffic Jam at the Western Antique Aeroplane and Automobile Museum in Hood River.  A classic and vintage car show and swap meet.

July 13 – 14: America’s Largest Antique & Collectible Show at Portland Expo Center.

July 16 (5 to 8 p.m.): Twilight Tuesday at Oregon Zoo.  Admission is only $5 after 4pm. Music, games, family activities, food carts, beer, & wine beginning 5 p.m.
