This has been the longest short week ever.  After Labor Day it's been all about the wildfires in the Columbia Gorge and another impending hurricane heading to Florida.  Pretty daunting.  But you know, sometimes the best thing to do is to go out and do something and see your neighbors, watch a game, or attend an event.  So, here's your weekly list.  Sorry I didn't get it out earlier, but there's been technical difficulties around the station as well.  Hang in there. ~Iris

Friday, Sept. 8: Music and Movies in the Park. Free. Last day of the series.  Music from Tracy Kim Band and the movie is “West Side Story.” Director Park, 815 SW Park Ave.

Fri-Sun, September 8 – 10 Rose City Comic Con in the Oregon Convention Center.

Sat, Sept 9: Oregon Duck Football in Autzen Stadium hosts Nebraska. 1:15pm.

Sat, Sept 9: Oregon State Beavers take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Corvallis.

Sat, Sept 9: The 2.4-mile AIDS Walk Portland includes music, entertainment, a kids’ corner, and a beer garden, with the start and finish at Fields Neighborhood Park.

Sat, Sept 9: Belmont Street Fair is a family-friendly event with live music, art, entertainment, shopping, kids’ activities, food vendors, and beer gardens on SE Belmont Street from 33rd to 39th. Free.

Sat, Sept 9: The 5K Color Run at Portland International Raceway. Wear a white shirt, and then get bombarded by handfuls of colored cornstarch as you run.

Sat, Sept 9: Beaverton Celebration Day includes a family 5K at 9 a.m. and a parade at 10 a.m., which goes from Allen Blvd. & Watson Ave. to Griffith Park. City Park has activities across from the library.

Sat, Sept 9: Tigard Street Fair features 130 vendors, food booths, music stages, kids’ activities, a morning family run/walk, and an evening Latin American festival on Main Street in Tigard. Free.

Sat, Sept 9 (4 to 9 p.m.): “Care to Dance?” outside Orenco Station in Hillsboro.  Family-friendly event with dance lessons, food vendors, a DJ, and a big band. Donation.

Sat, Sept 9: The Oregon Fall Half Marathon and 10K is located at St. Josef’s Winery in Canby.

Sat, Sept 9: The Carlton Crush has a grape-stomping competition, barrel-rolling race, kids’ watermelon-eating contest, artists’ market, entertainment, live music, festival food, wine, beer, and cider in Carlton. Free entry.

Sat-Sun, Sept 9 – 10: Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire in Kings Valley.  Watch knights joust on noble steeds, mingle with costumed minstrels and troubadours, shop 125 artisan and food-purveyor stalls, etc…

Sun, Sept 10: River Clean Up on the Clackamas.

Sun, Sept 10: The Celebration in Boring offers live music, pony and wagon rides, a classic-car show, games, and food booths. Free.
