Now - Aug. 29 (Wednesdays 5 to 7 p.m.) Music on Main next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.  Local musicians play jazz, country, salsa, and R&B. Free.

Now - Aug. 9 (Thursdays 7 p.m.):  River Rhythms at Monteith Riverpark in Albany.  Food vendors, music, children’s crafts, and a beer garden. No pets. Free.

July 20 - Aug. 17 (Fridays): Flicks on the Bricks at Pioneer Courthouse Square showing films at dusk, preceded by music at 7 p.m. Bring low-back chairs or pillows. Free.  July 27-COCO (PG).

Now - Sept. 7: Movies in the Park with live music before the movie, free popcorn, and movies at dusk. Dogs on leash, no smoking. Free.

July 26: The Motocross Anniversary Race at P.I.R. The biggest MX event of the year for off-road motorcycles.

July 26 – 28: Three Days of Aloha Hawaiian festival Saturday in Esther Short Park. Workshops, hula dancing, a 5K run/walk, and a free one-day Events vary by day.

July 26 – 29: Oregon Brewers Festival at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. 80 different craft beers (with cider & wine), pub food, and live music. No pets.

July 26 – 29:  Portland Vintage Racing Festival at Portland International Raceway. Watch racers zip around the track in restored cars.

July 26 – 29: The Washington County Fair!  Carnival rides, farm animals, food booths,  racing pigs, motorsport shows, and entertainment in Hillsboro. Free.

July 27 – 29: Northwest World Reggae Festival, 13 miles east of Sandy. Hear roots, rock, and reggae.  Family friendly. Camping. No dogs.

July 28: Portlandia Mermaid Parade.  Wear a costume. It starts with a noon ceremony at Japanese American Historical Plaza (north of Burnside Bridge), and heads south at 1 p.m. to Poets Beach for swimming and a beach party. Free. Siren’s Masquerade Ball at 8 p.m. is for age 21+.

July 28 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.): Japanese Festival outside Uwajimaya in Beaverton. Free. Japanese music, dance, traditional games for children, and authentic food & beer.

July 28 – 29: Rip City 3-on-3 in the Rose Quarter for age 8+.  Teams of 3 or 4 people compete for money.

July 29:  Montavilla Street Fair is a neighborhood event with 120 vendors, 3 music stages, and a kids’ area at SE Stark Street (from 76th Ave. to 82nd Ave.). Free.
