As we get closer to Halloween, here's your list of "Things to do this week" in and around the Portland area.  ~Iris    

Now - Nov. 3: The 13th Door Haunted House features “animated creatures and theatrical actors” at 3855 SW Murray Boulevard in Beaverton.

Now - Nov. 3: House of Shadows gives you a “disturbing” haunt with performers who will grab you but not grope you in Gresham. Children 13 to 18 must be with a parent.

Now –Oct 30: The Lighted Halloween Fantasy Trail at Wenzel family farm in Oregon City.  With a castle, suspension bridge, tunnel, and maze.

Now – Oct 31: Davis Graveyard in Milwaukie. Go after dusk to see the lights, special effects on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings plus Oct. 31. Free.

Now-Oct 30: The Haunted Pub Tour in Portland’s historic Old Town District includes tasting beer at two historic pubs, hearing stories about their resident ghosts, and exploring the Shanghai Tunnels. Closed Mondays.

Now-Oct 28: Fear Asylum at the Elks Lodge in Milwaukie. Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Now- Nov 3: Clark County Scaregrounds at Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield, WA. With 3 haunted houses, carnival rides, midway games, and food vendors.

Oct 12 – 31 (7 to 11 p.m.): Fearlandia in Tigard includes two attractions, plus “not as scary” tours on Oct. 21 (12 to 4 p.m.). 16255 SW Upper Boones Ferry Rd, Tigard.

Oct 12 – 31: Milburn’s Haunted Manor in Hubbard. A haunted house, a dark scare, a lit pumpkin patch, and covered lines to keep you dry.

Now-Oct 30 (7 p.m.): Meet the Producers: The View From Here on four weekday evenings at the Portland Art Museum.  Hear talks by local people producing TV shows, documentaries, music videos, commercials, animation, etc.

Oct 11 – 13: Circa is a 10-member cirque troupe that combines amazing acrobatics, the grace and athleticism of ballet, and story-based theatrics at Newmark Theatre.

Oct 11 – 15: Portland Tango Festival has live music, dancing, classes, and a Sunday dinner, mostly at Norse Hall.

Oct 12 – 14: Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show at the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in Canby. Rocks, minerals, fossils, gems, and jewelry.

Oct 12 – 14: Hood River Valley Harvest Fest has arts & crafts, a food court, cider, wine and beer tasting, produce, music, and a kids’ area overlooking the Columbia.

Oct 12 - 14 and 19 – 21: Apple Tasting at Portland Nursery on Stark St. Free. 60 kinds of apples and pears. Scarecrows, cider making, live music, & a kids’ tent.

Oct 12 - 27 (9:30 p.m.): Genrified! Cult & Other Curiosities on Fri & Sat at the Portland Art Museum.  Get in the mood for Halloween by watching late-night genre films.

Oct 13: Oregon Music Hall of Fame Induction and Concert at the Aladdin.  Big Monti, KISN Good Guys, Kingsmen, and more.

Oct 13: Hot Import Nights at the Portland Expo Center. Exotic cars, nightclub acts, DJ music, and foreign models.

Oct 14 (1 p.m., VIP noon): Beer + Cider ProAm at Leftbank Annex for age 21+. A ticket  gets you samples of specialty beer made by professional brewers and home brewers.

Oct 16:  Oregon-Today is the last day you can register to vote in the November 6 election.
