As technology advances in so many ways, the idea of a touring Ronnie James Dio hologram has brought up quite a controversy with his fans.  The hologram show first appeared last year at the Wacken Open Air festival in Germany. The Ronnie James Dio hologram tour called “Dio Returns”  will start on November 30th in Helsinki, Finland, wrapping up on December 21st in The Netherlands, with festival dates included for the U.S. and elsewhere in 2018.

Here’s a sample of the show on video below:

The hologram uses audio of Dio's live performances from throughout his career with live backing by the Official Dio Band, the new name for the group of former Dio musicians called Dio Disciples.

Wendy Dio and the production company behind the hologram say that the "Dio" set will be different from show to show. The Official Dio Band will also perform with vocalists Tim "Ripper" Owens and Oni Logan at various dates.

So, what do you think about this?  The Facebook responses are all over the place with people saying they shouldn’t even try to replicate Ronnie like this, and others who say it brings back great memories.

All I know is that I met the man, and there’s nothing like the real thing.
