Things to do in the Portland area (and beyond):  

  • Now - Aug. 28 (Tuesdays) Free Tunes outside Chehalem Cultural Center in Newberg.  Aug. 14th-Rae Gordon! Aug 21-Ty Curtis.  Plus food and wine vendors. Free.
  • Now - Aug. 29 (Wednesdays 5 to 7 p.m.) Music on Main next to Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.  Local musicians. Free.
  • Aug. 17: Flicks on the Bricks at Pioneer Courthouse Square showing Mean Girls (PG-13) at dusk, preceded by music at 7 p.m. Bring low-back chairs or pillows. Free 
  • Now - Sept. 7: Movies in the Park with live music before the movie, free popcorn, and movies at dusk. Dogs on leash, no smoking. Free.
  • August 15 – 16 (9 pm): Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band features The Nowhere Band playing the entire Sgt. Pepper album plus other songs of the era, with live visuals by JumpWire at Alberta Rose Theatre.
  • August 17 – 19: Portland Renovation and Landscaping Show in Memorial Coliseum.
  • August 16 (6 to 8:30 p.m.): Do Good Date Night at the Oregon Food Bank, where you’ll bag food and then enjoy beer, wine, food, and trivia games with other cool people.
  • August 17 – 19: Banks Bar-B-Que Truck and Tractor Pull has tractor & truck pulls, BBQ sandwiches, a beer garden, a parade (Sunday at 11 a.m.), and a combine demolition derby in Banks. No pets.
  • August 18 (7:30 p.m.): The Portland Thorns women’s soccer team play the Chicago Red Stars at Providence Park.
  • August 18:  The annual PDX Adult Soap Box Derby at Mt. Tabor City Park to win awards at No dogs. Free.
  • August 18: Oregon Bigfoot Festival at Glenn Otto Park in Troutdale. Bigfoot exhibits, special presentations, guest speakers, food carts, merchandise vendors, and carnival-style games No pets. Donation.
  • August 18: The Heirloom Tomato and Garlic Festival at Northwest Organic Farms in Ridgefield, WA.  Live bluegrass music, tomato and garlic tasting, fruits and vegetables for sale, craft and art vendors, and kids’ activities. Free.
  • August 18: Wings & Wheels at Scappoose Industrial Airpark. See airplanes, cars, motorcycles, and military vehicles.  There’s also a half marathon, a street dance, music, food vendors, a beer garden, and kids’ activities.
  • August 18 (4 to 9 p.m.): Forest Grove UnCorked on Main Street in Forest Grove for age 21+.  Local wineries, artisan distilleries, micro-breweries, fine arts, and live music.
  • August 18 – 19: Summer Spirits Fest in Ankeny Plaza (2 SW Naito Parkway) for age 21+.  Buy locally crafted spirits. Free admission.
  • August 18 – 19: Oregon Handmade Bicycle Show at Cathedral Park Place.  Builders of bike frames & parts, bike films & photos, brewers, food vendors, and live music.
  • August 18 – 19: Collector Car & Classic Boat Show is spread over three locations in Lake Oswego. Saturday has boats, Sunday has boats and cars. Free.
  • August 19 (3 p.m., VIP 1 p.m.): Multnomah Village Vine & Dine promises “35 superb NW wine and food stars” offering wine tastings paired with sweet and savory bites in the lower parking lot at Multnomah Village.
