RRHOF Recap - Bon Jovi

The Howard Stern Speech

April 16, 2018

The 33rd Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place this past Saturday night (4/14) in Cleveland, home to the Rock Hall and Museum. The Class of 2018 were inducted and included The Moody Blues, Dire Straits, The Cars, Bon Jovi and the late Nina Simone and Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Jon Bon Jovi asked Howard Stern to speak on their behalf and Stern did what Stern does; exaggerated and hyperbolic. Stern ripped into Hall of Fame co-founder and chairman Jann [pr: yon] Wenner for taking so long to induct the band, which has sold 130-million albums (listen below).

Following Stern's 14-minute induction speech, Jon then delivered the longest speech of the night; a 20-minute telling of the band's history. A lot of people think his oration was a statement about why the band should have been inducted sooner.

Then, joined by former members Richie Sambora and Alec John Such, the band played “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “It’s My Life,” its new song “When We Were Us” and “Livin’ on a Prayer.” All together, the Bon Jovi segment lasted more than an hour.

Howard Stern was the presenter for Bon Jovi at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame incution ceremony and used his time to rip into Jann Wenner (co-founder/publisher Rolling Stone & founder of the RRHOF) for not inducting Bon Jovi sooner.
