Events

  • Now - Aug. 31: Mesmerica 360: A Visual Music Journey in the planetarium at OMSI. 
  • Aug. 1- 4: Art in the Dark at Mary S. Young Park in West Linn.  An illuminated outdoor performance with aerial apparatus, athletic and technical dance movement, and acrobatics with live music.  
  • July 31, 2019 (7 to 10 pm): OMSI After Dark: Astronomy for age 21+. Drink a glass of wine while exploring the wonders of OMSI with no kids in sight.  
  • August 2 – 3: Tualatin Crawfish Festival has food, beer, wine, and music both days. Saturday it adds races, vendors, carnival games, eating contests, and a kids’ zone.
  • August 2 – 4: Pickathon on Pendarvis Farm in Happy Valley The annual event has  a large lineup of diverse music (indie/roots, garage rock, folk, alt country, bluegrass) with food vendors and camping. Also promoting ecology and recycling. No pets.
  • Now-Aug 25: Original Practice Shakespeare Festival. Free.

  • Now- August 23 on FRIDAYS: Flicks on the Bricks at Pioneer Courthouse Square.  Film starts at dusk, preceded by music at 7 pm. Low-back chairs or pillows are allowed. Free.

  • August 3 (3 to 9 pm): Obonfest at Oregon Buddhist Temple. Commemorates ancestors with Obon dance, lanterns, Japanese food, beer, and sake. Free entry.
  • August 3 (3 to 8 pm): Summer Sangria Party at Hip Chicks do Wine. Enjoy a tasty drink made with wine and fruit, with live music and small plates of food for sale.
  • August 3: Fremont Fest is a good reason to close Fremont Street from 42nd to 50th. Parade of Pets & kids on bikes at 10am.  Music, kids’ zone, and 125 vendors. Free.
  • August 3: A Cold Coffee Festival!  Sample coffee and vote for your favorite. Live music, food vendors at Cold Brew Fest in Esther Short Park, in Vancouver. Children 12 and under get in free.
  • August 3: Soulful Giving Blanket Concert has live music, gourmet food, Oregon wine & beer, and vendors on 15 acres of meadows & forest near the Sandy River. 21+.
  • August 3 – 4: Rice Northwest Museum Summer Festival in Hillsboro.  Educational games, gold panning, geode cutting, jewelry & fossil vendors, live music, and food.
  • August 3 – 4: The Great Oregon Steam-Up.  Watch a parade of vintage tractors, trucks, and automobiles (daily at 1:30 pm). Live music, a quilt show, farm-equipment demonstrations, kids’ activities, and admission to historical machinery museums at Powerland Heritage Park near Salem.
  • August 3 – 4: Mother Earth News Fair in Albany.  Learn about sustainable lifestyles, renewable energy, organic gardening, small-scale farming, and green construction.

Music

  • Now- Sept. 1: Movies and Music in the Park! Live music at 6:30pm, then a movie at dusk on some nights.  Alcohol is OK, no smoking. Free.
